Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) Navigation Grade

IMU’s sense rotation and acceleration, achieved via gyroscopes and accelerometers. 6 degrees of freedom (6DOF) refers to the number of axes that a rigid body is able to move in 3-dimensional space. The body can move in 3 dimensions as well as change orientation between axes (pitch, yaw and roll) When a 3 axis magnetometer is added, the IMU is usually referred to as a 9 DOF sensor.

VectorNav introduces the Tactical Series, a next-generation, MEMS inertial navigation platform that features high-performance IMU, AHRS, GPS/INS and GPS-Compass solutions.
Featuring a tactical-grade IMU core housed in a robust and compact aluminium enclosure, the Tactical Series leverages VectorNav’s industry leading navigation algorithms to offer a new class of inertial navigation solutions.
